Is it normal to feel empty after you finish a film

Do any of you ever get a seemingly perpetual feeling of emptiness after an especially empathetic or simply heartwarming film? Perhaps it was so completely engrossing the idea that you may never experience a feeling like that again is soul destroying, or am I just an idiosyncratic idiot. This is of topic but i'm rather shy so hello everyone. Anyway hope this post was decorous enough for this fine website and its very strict uploading rules ;)

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I have that with a select few films. I also had it with bioshock infinite, I got through it too quickly, I got it in the evening stayed up all night and finished it in the morning. When I started it again I felt that way because it doesn't have the same impact or immersion when you explore columbia the 2nd time

    • Bioshock man, I know where you're coming from. Although I mainly felt it with the first one. Andrew Ryan, what a dream that guy had.

        • I'm not even joking when I say that I was obsessed with that game for like 3 month after I beat it. The only reason I stopped obsessing over it was because Bioshock 2 was free on the ps3 store, haha.

          • Yeah that was a good game too I think it gets a lot of stick because it wasn't as good as the first but I expected that to be honest still a great game

            • Ya I know what you mean, my friend kept on warning me that the 2nd game sucks, but it really doesn't.

  • I felt that way when I finished season 2 of the Walking Dead on Netflix. I still pretend to see zombies walking through fields when I'm driving. I'll have to wait months to see season 3, dammit!

  • Fantastic post and you really have a way with words. It is perfectly normal to feel reflective and contemplative after watching films, in fact they are intended to elicit these emotions in the audience.

  • If the movie sucked or had a deadbeat letdown ending, then yes. I feel quite empty inside.

  • I understand *hugs* Sometimes the grieving process just takes a little longer.

  • Rise of the planet of the apes, and Apocalypto definitely had that effect.

Titanic... when Jack... I'd rather not talk about this. *tear swell*
