Is it normal to feel depressed at nighttime?

The title says it all. Typically when I'm at home, I will start thinking to myself, and typically I will feel depressed during the night time. Nothing serious, just feel down, and wonder if something is wrong with me. Does anyone else ever feel this way?

  • Nighttime is when you go to sleep. Sleep reminds people of death and the inevitability of it. Completely normal to feel upset by that.

  • I always find that I get more negative thoughts in the nighttime and I don't know why that is, they get even worse when I've had a bad day. It would be nice to know why but I guess its nothing too serious unless it is bothering you.

  • This is pretty normal,
    I sometimes get depressed at night,
    and some of my friends do too.

    I eat my favorite food when I get depressed at night,
    It makes me happy :]

  • Nighttime is dark, and you're generally tired. Go to sleep. Things tend to look better in the morning.

  • fuck i hate going to bed now becuz im in bed i think about my 2 old friends who ditched me EVERY NIGHT!!! and im sick of it and its mainly in the night cuz its all quiet and u cant stop thinking

  • It is part of your natural daily rhythms to be more intellectual and find it easier to do mental work in the morning and to be more emotional at night. This brings with it the examination of things that make you unhappy as well, so they can seem magnified at night time. If you are not living with a partner and sleeping in bed with them then it can also feel lonely. Even if you are, it can emphasise problems if they are not as attentive to you as you'd like while you are having these sad feelings. It's normal.

  • happens to most people when they dont go out and enjoy the urban vibe of the nightlife. its pretty normal. i mean, the sun is what gives off vitamin D, which makes you feel all bright and sunshiney. so at night time, its pretty average to not be in too high spirits.

  • It's really weird, but completely normal (sorry I don't know how to spell it). I get the same feing every night but once I start talking to my friends I'm over it, they help me with everything.

  • Everything is always worse at night for some reason then in the morning I was like why was I feeling so worried last night, then it usually happens again at night. Its weird but I noticed that too.

  • Happens to me sometimes. I like falling asleep with the tv on a "happy channel" when it happens.
