I can understand this. I graduated from an all girls Catholic high school last year and it was only this year that one of my close friends told our group she was bisexual. I was completely shocked that she hadn't told us earlier as she said she had known for a while. None of us are in any way close minded and our school had it's fair share of lesbians/bisexuals so I was kind of hurt that she didn't tell us earlier. I'm not too sure about your family but I think you should give your friends a little more credit. True friends could give a rats ass what gender you're attracted to; they'd just want you to be happy ^_^
This is why I am an atheist... Religion just makes everything worse. Why should they be ashamed of you if they truly loved u? Religion is just no excuse!BECOME ATHEIST AND FUCK ALL THAT SHIT :D
Is it normal to fear how others will react to your sexuality?
