I have lost count of the number of "fallen in love with best friend" posts there are on this website so you can be assured that what you are feeling is entirely normal. Sometimes people fall in love with someone they are so comfortable with becuase it seems like an "easy option"
Im not saying this is neccessarily true in your case because I don't know anything about you. It is risky to tell him that you love him, but if you truly do then it will just nag and nag away and be a huge weight on your shoulders to live with that secret.
If you are good enough friends, your friendship should endure both rejection and if he loves you too.
A good friend of mine told me he loved me, and I personally didn't think of him in that way--but it had no effect on our friendship and we are still good friends today.
So-yes. What you are feeling is normal. Whether or not you should tell him is up to you.
