i had the same case i asked out my best friend and she said no :L but we're still friends and not in that akward way but genuine friends like we were beforehand except this way you can connect more even if they dont feel the same way about you
oh and i've liked this girl for three years ^_^ so the friendship that came afterwards wasnt a temporary one.
