Is it normal to fall for someone 8 years older without meeting them?

I've had a similar experience when I was 12, only that it was on a different social community and we never told we love each other and stuff. I still do think of the guy, but of course I realize that it could be some odd dude behind the computer.

Still, it's nice to ponder, after many years, "I wonder what he's doing with his life now."
