Is it normal to enjoy the darkness

Not darkness like inside a cave darkness. But metaphorically.

I think deep inside each human is a desire for it, but some humans choose to practice abstinence instead of embracing our desires. Pherhaps i'm wrong.

Also, is it normal to listen to melancholic, depressive music & feel joy/happiness??? To enjoy twisted, demented things???

If its not normal, give your theories on why some humans do.

Sorry if this should be posted somewhere else....

  • I'm the exact same way! I've been like this since I was a kid. I always liked, sympathized with and rooted for the villains in fairy tales (I was sad when the witch in Snow White died. I always wanted the The Wolf to kill and eat that little brat Red Riding Hood.) I've always been drawn to sadness and darkness. It's always comforted me, in an odd way. Now that I'm older, I just accept it and embrace it. I too have wondered why I'm like this, but I honestly don't know. My parents were and still are very religious. But none of my siblings are like this. I truly think I was just born this way. Either that or I've been possessed by an evil demon since I was a child.

  • It's not normal. I don't know why though but I know it isn't. I'm the same way and so many people suggest I see a therapist about it...

  • I do think this is fairly normal, I'm not sure how healthy it is for you or others around you to have this feeling/opions tho.

This reminds me a lot of a friend I once had, thing is he took it a bit to far and lost a lot of good things in his life, like his friends.

Everyone and everything runs on instinct to a certain extent, and I would say killing and being purely selfish is very instinctive. In the wild animals do whatever they have to just to surive. Humans I suppse also have similar instincts.

I think this is ok and fairly normal as long as it isn't something that you let rule you, if you want to have that opinion sure, but don't force it on others. Also it is never ok to hurt or try and change anyone.
