Is it normal to end friendships to gain a sense of power?
You break friendships to have a sense of power/control of your own life. These friends don't see it coming either. Also, a part of you takes pleasure in hurting their feelings.

so making other people upset and sad makes you feel good about yourself huh. yeah you sound like an awesome person to have in anyones life. why not do something with your own life to feel in control you asshole.
That is not normal at all. I could see if the friend had done something wrong that upset you or just plain annoyed you to death. But you aren't the good friend at all if your just ending friendships. You should really consider your descisons more wisely.
