I'm British, northern and I work with university students. They drink roughly what you do, perhaps a little more. After exams, significantly more.
As for hangovers, there are ways to minimise them. Hydrate before you go to bed. A couple of pints of water goes a long way, even though it's the last thing you'll feel like doing after a night on the lash. The next day, caffeine is a no-no as it's a diurectic and will prolong your dehydration. However, if you can face a couple of pints of fruit juice then the stimulant effect of caffeine outweighs the diuretic effect (as long as you follow it with the juice straight away).
An affogato (espresso over ice cream) is wonderful but a cola float (chunk of vanilla ice cream in a Coke) always did the trick for me, followed by lots of ice cold fizzy water.
Is it normal to drink this amount? (UK ONLY PLZ)
