    But isn't the word "short" defined by someone. Its not a generality, nor is it a precise unit of measurement.
    If you asked for a piece of string to be cut short, how would the other person who is cutting it know how short you wanted it precisely, you might have conflicted views of what is short.

    Its the same with long. This story could have been 2000 words longer for all we know, but this person shortened, what they determined to be a long story to what they deemed, short.

    The same "could" be said about what you deem is short or not, however its not your story to tell.
