I store all things that i can store as memories. from collecting tissue papers from restaurants (with the date/time/people/etc.) that i go to with my pals o frns o anyone, to locks of my hair (with dates on which i cut them and how old i was then), etc. ....i just cant let o of moments..i badly want to keep them alive..in some way - is that normal??

  • As long as you don't start to hoard. You'd be better off doing something more constructive by making a book with your mementos.

  • Ur probbly a hoarder. Hoarders make up an excuse to keep things even though they mean nothing. No offence but it's really stupidd

  • I do something similar with old notebooks, things I've typed, and papers that I or a friends have written/drawn on, as well as things I pick up from certain occasions. I've resolved that o put them in a scrapbook one day, but don't know if I'll ever actually get around to it. Sometimes I just debate whether or not something actually has meaning, and if not, I'll throw it out.

  • I used to keep lots of "stuff" for the memories too. I still do, but not to the same extent. Just recently, I was going through the things I'd hoarded as a little kid and it all looked like junk to me, but it was special junk. I could remember all the memories attatched to each object. It made me want to cry a little. I'm not that kid anymore.

I had to throw most of it away since we're moving house and I can't keep it. I don't know whether it's a good or a bad thing that I can let go of such things when before it was impossible. Maybe I've lost some of my sensitivity.

  • Yeah - I was going to say you seem to be on the verge of being a hoarder. Try to let this stuff go. Its just stuff. And if that causes you difficulty, seek help early.

  • You sound like a very sensitive, thoughtful person. I think it is very positive and beautiful that you want to "catalogue" and keep moments of time. If you are able, please start putting them in a scrapbook. After a while, you probably will become a little overwhelmed keeping EVERYTHING, so you might want to make some choices as to which momemtos you keep and which you toss. Think of the "highlights" in your life that you want to remember and just keep those. I agree with the previous answer that if you keep everything, you will have too much "stuff" around and then you won't be able to really find ANYTHING to remember the best moments from. I hope this helps. Good luck.

  • It's pretty weird...I mean I keep every card I ever get and I still have all the notes from my friends that I got in high school, but keeping tissues and hair and stuff like that is pretty strange. You're going to end up with a lot of junk sitting around. Why don't you just carry a camera with you instead and take lots of pictures?

    • I agree! That's what I started doing... carrying a camera around with me 24/7. And digital pics don't take up any space :) It's awesome! I'm trying to de-clutter. I used to be such a packrat!!
