I think there is nothing wrong with it. It all depends on how well you guys communicate with each other and know there will always be differences. If you can recognize that, have a healthy debate and agree on things that matter, you should be fine. Life is boring without robust and respectful discussion/debates. The clue to it not working is if you find yourself saying, "there is no way I can ever see commiting myself to someone who..." Enjoy life, embrace the differences, and you will be good.
