Self harm isn't generally considered "normal", no. But realistically, the number of people who engage in it and find it pleasurable or stress relieving is high enough that it might be considered normal. But trust me, it ain't gonna seem worth it if that ever gets infected, and one day you'll regret the scars.
When I was younger, I once did self harm of a somewhat different sort: I'd burn myself, usually on the stomach area which would almost always be covered with a shirt. That ended when I ended up burning myself badly enough that I had a very large, difficult to hide blister on my stomach that eventually ruptured and I had to care for it for months while trying to hide it.
You're just begging for a similar incident. I'd advise that you stop. If you intend to continue, be very careful.
