I'm from new York, yes we do sound angry all the time. Honestly it just amuses us, with both my cousin and best friend arguing is about 50% of our interactions but its all out of fun and endearment. If a new yorker is mad at you but has no reason to be he is probably just breaking balls and trying to have fun...either that or they just slipped out of a straight jacket.

Agreed I am New Yorker and love our accent wouldn't trade it for anything.
