Is it normal to creep people out with your randomness?

I usually get away with it and make people laugh... But every now and then I say something too weird. It's usually when I misjudge my audience :|

I once said to this girl I was stuck in a room with for a few minutes, as a joke (since it was already awkward) "this is where we get naked and roll around on the floor covered in blood" As you can imagine, what I thought was awkward before turned out to be the distant, pale and unimpressive cousin of awkward.
