Is it normal to create a fake sports league in your head?
So, i'm pretty sure the answer to this is 'no', but, uh, here goes. Since I was 12, i created a fake sports league in my head. There are 15 teams, each representing a town in the county i grew up in. They all have names and specific uniform colors (ie, Washington Flames, Springfield Thunder, Plainfield Panthers, etc.) I create this whole sports league in my head where the teams play each other, compete in playoffs, with announcers and the whole bit. When i was a kid each town had their own baseball, basketball, soccer, football, hockey, and roller hockey team, and i would play out all the games in my head.
I'm 31 now, and I'm embarrassed to say I still do it, for football only. I always thought I would grow out of it, but I haven't. I want to stop. But it's a diversion from real life and its fun to think about and takes my mind to a happy placed. But I'm pretty embarrassed about this.
Is this normal? Do I need therapy?
