Is it normal to constantly rewind and play back what you're watching?

My brother has this weird habit. Whenever I see him watching a show on TV, he will constantly rewind a few seconds (we have a DVR) and replay the scene, sometimes even three times over. He will do this about 10-20 times depending on what he's watching. Is this normal?

    Hmm. I don't know if it's normal, but I do that when I see something weird, or if someone said something funny. Then I rewind it. But it's not super normal.haha

    Oh man I do that all the time. I miss something then I back it up then - shit - I'll drift off and miss it again and again like a retard. Normal.

    I do that when I didn't quite catch something someone said, or when something amazes me. I love scrutinizing the production, and I myself watch certain scenes numerous times. But then again, I am a prospective filmmaker, so I guess it's part and parcel of learning.

    My brother does that but with movies. It takes him like 4 hrs to get thru a movie, and if someone talks to him and he misses a second he has to do it again
