  • Buzzing in ear or tinnitus or ringing in the ears is a medical condition by which hearing noises not caused by an outside source are heard in your ears. The noises may either be soft or loud and may be categorized as a roar, buzz, hiss, hum, or ring. At times it can sound like blowing, whistling or sizzling. The noises or sounds may also be described as air escaping, running water, musical notes or noises emanating from the inside of the seashell.
The mild form of buzzing ear is experienced by almost everyone once in awhile and lasts for only a short amount of time. However, recurring tinnitus or buzzing in ear may be intimidating and stressful as well such that it affects your ability to sleep and your concentration.
The cause of buzzing ear has not been totally traced to a specific reason but tinnitus can be considered a symptom of almost all ear problems. Ringing sounds in the ears may be a symptom of ear infection, wax or foreign materials in the ear, injury from loud and disturbing noises and Meniere’s disease.
