Is it normal to celebrate halloween if you are a dedicated christian?

I am a dedicated Christian but my young daughter is beginning to take interest in trick or treating, is it normal not to want to celebrate that holiday even if your child wants to?

Is It Normal?

  • I am christian and I want to tell you that there is nothing wrong with celebrating halloween. It is my favorite holiday! Please let your daughter enjoy her childhood and give her a bit of freedom or else she could easily rebel and turn into a the opposite if what you want. Im surprised that your denomination frowns upon halloween. Mine doesn't. Maybe you should loosen up a bit and have fun. That doesnt mean you cant take your religion seriously. At the end of the daying celebrating a fun silly holiday doesnt mean that you love God any less. Please think about it because you dont want your daughter to miss out.

  • I think you have the wrong impression of Halloween. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with a Christian celebrating this holiday. Do you think that all trick-or-treaters are devil worshipers or something? That is just silly. It's just good-natured fun for the majority of people and if you wish to deprive your daughter of this wonderful childhood experience then that is your choice, but don't be surprised if she grows up to hate you or resent the religion itself because of it. RANT OVER.

  • Quite a few 'Christian' traditions are taken/borrowed/based on/around pagan ones.

  • nowadays, a lot of churches hold their own version of trick or treating or Fall Festival Celebration. It still gives a kids a chance to get candy. You should look into something like that.

    • Lol, are churches really still hijacking pagan festivals? Whatever helps them stay relevant, I guess...

  • Christ would HATE your child "celebrating" Halloween by going to your neighbors doors and getting candy from them. No Christian in their right mind would want a sense of community for children to have fun.

Get a life you stupid cunt. You know nothing about real Kristianity. Only nonsense by frauds like Paul and modern Preachers/Pastors.

    • Your a dirty cunt!

    • Yes, and I'm sure you are a far more reliable source than Preachers/Pastors on the subject of religion. How did I go on in life so long without your powerful words of wisdom???

  • Halloween comes from pagan religious customs. You cannot be a Christian and celebrate Halloween. Sad, but true.

  • Who says you should only celebrate things that have to do with your own religion?

I'm not religious at all, I'm an atheist. Still I do celebrate Christmas and Easter and things like that. They're not in my religion, but they are in my culture. My neighbours are muslims, they celebrate Eid wich I think is always very lovely. I wouldn't object if that would become culture too. But they also celebrate Christmas and Easter wich are non-Islamic. However, they are in the culture.

  • I celebrate Christmas and I'm a dedicated non-Christian, pretty sure the same rule applies with Christians celebrating Halloween :)

Hey I even celebrate Chinese New Year sometimes and I'm definitely not Chinese.

  • How can you specify that someone isn't "that" Christian? What guidelines exactly are you basing that off of? Is there a number scale that we should be working off of like - on a scale of 1 to 10 how Christian are you? If you celebrate Halloween are you a 3 on the Christian scale?

  • I think it is fine to celebrate it. As long as you are dressing up as something evil, or satan like you are ok. Let your little girl have fun!

  • i think its fine as long as your doing it for fun and not believing whats it suppose to actually be about

  • Halloween is still celebrated as a satanic holiday to satanist. You should research satanic holidays and 'halloween'will pop up. Read what kind of things they do on that day. Still to this day! Then ask you're self your own question.
Do you remember those candy cigarettes? Should we give those out to our children ? why not? They aren't real. They aren't really smoking, its only for fun! Right ?? Wrong!
Eat , drink and be merry?

    • There are a lot of Christians who dress up. As long as your not worshiping the devil you are still a christian. Judging a persons level of religon isnt "that christian" of you.

  • Hmm I'm not religious but I don't like trick or treating anyway. It's like begging
