Is it normal: to care about him?

I met this guy online about two years ago. we started talk and we really hit it off. we never met until about six months ago (I know that it was risky meeting him but I did). we clicked. there were sparks. we go visit each other every couple months. we wanna be together so badly the only problem is he lives on the other side of the country. we decided to be friends but we keep finding ourselves wanting more. we really care about each other. idk what to do. I can't just be friends with him but us being together in a relationship won't work dealing with the distance. is it normal for me to want more & feel jealous when he hang out with girls even though I'm not his.... friend or lover or gf or anything?
