It's been pointed out to me lately that humans are the only creature that attempt to prolong intercourse... you don't see dogs saying, "ooh it feels so good, I'm gonna hold off so I can do it longer!" I've read repeatedly that the average amount of time between insertion and ejaculation is 2.5 minutes (!!!)
As you continue being sexually active, you will gain more control, so practice practice practice! (Tell this to your girlfriend!)
