I can see why it may have her upset but I don't really agree that her response is the mature one. She needs to know that she isn't the most attractive person in the world, just like you aren't. There's going to be a lot of people far more physically attractive than you and her, so you finding other people more physically attractive, as she most likely does too, is natural.
If she thinks the relationship should end because someone else may be more "physically" attractive compared to her but not in any other way (personality, etc), then she's a bit immature. I can understand feeling a bit upset but to go that far?
I wouldn't say it's normal to break up with someone because their partner finds a "model" physically attractive.
