If you got social anxiety or whatever reaction the chick or guy might have if you did it face to face would just make you break down and cry like a baby,then yes,it is right.
There are many reasons for doing something like that,all of them based on inadequacy in these types of awkward social situations.
I did it once or twice,I just was not able to bare the look on the other person face,whatever look it was gonna be.Probably,incredulity,disbelief,shock,disappointment and all that or she would just get mean and like disrespectful or whatever,it has been better that way.Anyway, I just could not utter the words so I just did through a text message.I did not dump her because of some particular defect or anything,I was just going through a ruff patch and did not want to be a burden to her.
What is "be brave" supposed to mean anyway?feelings on both sides are at stake,if you are too bald and direct with it and she is sort of a very fragile girl you might actually do more damage by doing it in person than through the phone.Some people are just not made to go through the dating game and come out of it psychologically unharmed.You just need the wisdom to make the difference between those who tend to develop a very strong bond real fast and those who do not.
Anyway dumping somebody through the phone can be better or worse according to the particular situation you do it.It is up to you to decide.Of course if you just date one chick after the other and dump em all through the phone right after having sex with them you might be michael douglas or a sex addict who would stick it in everything with a pulse.
Like:we are not boyfriend and girlfriend! YOU ARE ACTING LIKE A PSYCHO BITCH!
