That's a really good point. Empires are expensive to maintain, which of course bankrupt the Sceptered Isle. I wish the US would stop trying to act like an empire. It's a waste of money that could be invested to make robots so cost effective that they price Chinese workers out of a job.
Not to be argumentative, but if we did, wouldn't that mean both countries's work forces would be out of work, instead of just one?
And let me tell you what. Russia would be a pushover in a war, but Red China would clean our clock! Their military OWNS two of the biggest and most profitable international shipping companies on the planet and is therefore financially 100% independent of the government. They not only have all the money they could ever wish for, they have the means (those ships) to transport what would be the largest military force ever assembled on earth, anywhere they wish.
No, it would be best to humor China for a few years more, me thinks.
Your observation is certainly a mandate for good diplomacy. On the other hand, our submarines could clean out those merchant ships like sitting ducks. Confrontation is a terrible idea anyway. China is giving us an artificially high standard of living, and they are getting trillions in cash. Russia never had a clue compared to the Chinese economic machine.
IIN to believe you are smarter

Gee, I don't know. Is Hawaii a part of the US? Just how many states do you think there are in the Union?
