You are not very intelligent if you believe this. Not everyone thinks the same. If you like a person it does not mean they likes you. If you eat meat it does not mean they do. If you want sex it does not mean the other person is interested. If you try and share sex since they should want it you are a rapist. Do you see how horrible that is? If you believe this you are mentally unwell. You need to get therapy and realize you are not the only one in this world. The world was not invented to please you. People who think this way need some serious help.
Of course I don't belive in the golden rule. All you did hear is state exactly why the golden rule is flawed. You're right; I can't force my dispostions on other because of what i want. Thats my point, it's stupid, yet this is how people teach other to be kind to others. I also agree that people who treat the golden rule as some sort of moral law do need help.
You should treat others how you want to be treated. That does not mean assume that everyone wants what you want. If you dont want to be judged you must not judge others for what they do. If you want others to be kind to you do that to them. It does not mean force your decisions on others. If you really think that you are an idiot. So you have a very messed mind set to believe everyone feels like you. If you want people to respect your dietary choices you should respect others. A vegetarian could call a meat eater a murderer. So if you dont want this type of disrespect dont call all vegans/vegetarians pussies.
Who called anyone a pussy? You are out to prove something or someone wrong. you clearly aren't understanding my argument. Why are you being so hostile calling me an idiot and not intelligent?? I was merely giving examples of the flaws intrinsic to following the golden rule blindly.
Lets say a sociopath who also happens to enjoy masochism follows the golden rule. Under the golden rule it would be right for him to cause others pain because it is how he would like to be treated. Yes you can say, "use common sense in order to know how other would like to be treated." despite this, the golden rule says nothing of common sense.
Understand that I do not treat people poorly. I am merely exposing a possible danger to teaching others the golden rule.
The 'rule' itself doesn't seem to be common sense to a lot of people. What I meant, though, was that it should be common sense that it means treat others with respect, as you would like to be treated with respect, rather than give people food that you like, because you like it so they must. Generally speaking, once people are above a certain age, they are able to ascertain that just because they have a like for something, it doesn't guarantee that EVERYONE will like the exact same thing.
IIN to believe the "golden rule" promotes a sel-centered mindset?
