Is it normal to believe that you would give your life for another.

Is it normal to believe that you would give your life for another person's?
Do you have a value system, whereby a person would have to meet certain criteria before you would do this?

Is It Normal?

  • I can think of more than one person I'd give my life for, or at least I think I would. Very hard to determine how you'd actually respond in a situation of that type. Definitely normal though.

  • If I was willing to give my life for yours out of devotion you did something to earn it. Since you made me care about you so much I cant imagine my world with out you and I feel I ow you a debt.

If I died saving your life out of obligation(since its the right thing to do) than you are just lucky I am a good enough person to not watch bad stuff happen in front of me.

If I was devoted to the point Id die for you that means you could murder me and I would not hold it against you. I would just be happy I served you in my life.

There is a difference between obligated debt vs devoted debt. There is very few I devote myself to. Yet there will always be those I am obligated to. I do not devote myself to anyone.

  • I would die for ANYONE. Taking a life with so much potential is very rash.
But its the money and society that drives criminals. Desperation at its best.

    • "But its the money and society that drives criminals. Desperation at its best." On this one I respectfully have to disagree. Replace "Desperation" with laziness and you'd be a lot closer to the truth.

      • Laziness?
Explain how that associates with taking a life.

        • I'm only responding, in this case to, "But its the money and society that drives criminals."
Most criminals are criminals because they were too lazy to do well in school; even if it is terribly difficult, almost anyone can apply themselves and get an education. Without the education, they turn to "easy money"; drugs, robberies, etc, not the hard work it takes to be a regular wage earner.
It's only desperation if they are lazy; anybody who chooses, can survive on a meager salary and live within their means. It may not be the life they envisioned, but it can be a good, happy life, none the less.

  • Only if I really, really, REALLY cared about them.

  • Yes. I would die for the people I love and hold close to me. Then again, who wouldn't? It's only natural to be protective of those you love.

  • there is one person i would do it because i love her more than anything

  • I'd give my life for a person who is really close to me or someone who considers the same principles as me. Atleast, I fantasize so. I've been in a near death situation with a relative and I was prepared to protect them at all costs, even my life. For me, it depends how dire the cause or situation is. Leave people, I'd die for my principles. I think it's a noble way to go.
