I think in alot of ways it is a manifestation of insecurity as you suggested, especially when you see a much weaker person dominated by the stronger person in the relationship. I always ask myself how that can be enjoyable at all?? Its also used as more of a validation for society's acceptance, you could be a total weirdo but wait a sec, are you married? yes? alright well then you cant be that weird I guess.
The pressure to do it is unbelievable in all honesty especially if you see friends doing it. Completely the wrong reason to be getting married in all honesty.
I also have yet to see a single woman who is happier then any single man, BUT every married woman I know is happier then every married man.
Is it normal to believe that marriage is just a sign of insecurity?
