Good catch- it's not a real word. What OP probably meant was transcription, which is also wrong. Transcription is where DNA used and RNA is produced. No damage to DNA would occur there. What would be correct (and what I assumed in writing the above post) is replication, where DNA is used as a template to create more DNA.
