Is it normal to believe that a persons career is based solely on Politics?

  • I've read a bit more about this subject.

    1) The $400,000 or above is written into the law itself.

    2) That is an expected 90,000 agents hired over 10 years. The IRS expects something like 58,000 agents to retire or within the next 5 years alone.

    3) The IRS agent pool has reduced by something like about 20,000 agents over the last 15-20 years. As a result of the staff reduction the IRS has had to noticeably reduce the number of companies and rich that are audited. They feel that they need to reverse this.

All the 90,000 does is replace the expected retiring agents over the next 10 years and restaff it back to levels typical of 20 years ago so they can get back to auditing companies and rich as much as they used to (which is where they found the biggest tax cheats).

    • If that is the case then fair, fair. That being said I didnt expect much of the 90k, just simply with the manpower that is needed to fill said rolls and how goverment jobs usually pay crap. We still have a trucker shortage and trucking pays better. Cant imagine that gap filling up as quickly as a civilian sector job.

      • Not everyone wants to drive a truck or do construction.

I have a friend that I am assisting in a job hunt right now as he was laid off in early July. He's looking for industrial or factory work so he can be home on a routine schedule and help take care of his 2 year old daughter.

He currently has has 2 job offers due to my rewriting his resume 2 weeks ago; but neither is as much $ as he was previously making or hoping for (both offers are in the $19 starting range).

Today we talked on how he and his wife should evaluate the 2 job offers to decide which is likely best long term. He has requested information from both companies on their benefit & retirement programs so he can compare those.

Despite everyone saying they are short of employees. I've watched my about 27 year old friend struggle finding a job.
