  • I don't think there's any inherent contradiction between science and religion. Many scientists, past and present, have viewed science as a way of figuring out how God created everything. I've also heard that biblical literalism is a very recent and very American phenomenon, and that most theologians throughout history have believed that the Bible isn't meant to be taken literally.

    You might also be interested to know that the Big Bang theory was originally proposed by a priest named Georges Lemaître. Also, mainstream materialist scientists originally rejected it, because they actually thought it sounded *too religious*.
