It's normal in the sense that it happens. But, mate, grow some balls and get some self respect. Maybe part of why she dumped you is that you're a guy who begs. Given the choice between a guy who begs and a guy who makes women beg, the woman's going to go for the latter most of the time. In my experience, the only time I've ever gotten a woman back after a breakup, is from a position of strength.
A breakup is usually one of two things. One, she's playing a game to give you notice she's not happy about something. Or two, she's thought this through for a long time and she's really sure it's over (and usually just found your replacement).
In either case, most of the time after a breakup, I realize it's for the best and I can trade up. I've left behind a trail of broken hearted women who regret playing one too many games with me.
It's human nature. When she sees you doing well and moving on, she thinks maybe she made a mistake. When she sees you begging, she knows she made the right decision.
