Is it normal to become a stripper to pay for college expenses?

I've heard of stories like this and honestly, I'm afraid to become a stripper, but its the only fast way of making good money to pay for my life during college. I know this avenue will bring about bad results in the long run, but its a job I am planning to take as as temporary solution...

Is It Normal?

  • look, its legal - and its a paying job - albeit questionable from certain moral vantage points! peel the layers and collect the tips! I did it in college. (i'm a straight guy, did the gay bar thing) Never had a loan to pay back, always had cash in my pocket. Would i do it again? no, but i don't have to. Its just economic reality babe.

    • this post is bullshit ...no matter the economic "crisis" there is no need to be a stripper. Ambition is the only thing that is needed, also every stripper says they are there to pay off college . Next if you submit yourself to a bunch of barking animals it will lower your self esteem and effect yourlife in a negative way.

  • I am not a prude in fact I went through a time when I spent a lot of time in strip clubs and a lot of girls would tell me they were just doing this to get through college but the fast money and lifestyle would become addictive, also you are around other people that do drugs, have very materialistic values and tend to have low opinions of the opposite sex...this rubs off on you whether you know it or not...and it can literally ruin you for a real job , a real relationship,
and before you know it you are hooked into materialism and then when your looks fade...your lonely...some girls can do it but many become casualties of the vida loca

  • If you're afraid to become a stripper, then why do it? If you know it'll give you bad results, then why bother? There are other jobs out there to pay for college expenses.

If you didn't really care if you were a stripper and are ok with it, that's one thing. But if this is completely out of your comfort zone and you really don't want to do it, then don't even bother.

  • If you're afraid to do it, why would you want to put yourself in that position? Its one thing to conquer your fears but I think this situation would require you to either like your job and be eager for it or not be into it but need the money desperately. There is nothing wrong with stripping, the only downside I could think of besides maybe feeling guilty later on or something along those lines would be you making too much money and not wanting to pursue your original career, but you could work as a bartender or like someone said work at Hooters and you would still make very good tips. My aunt used to be a waitress at a club (not sure where exactly i just know her uniform was a short black skirt, sheer black stockings, and a white button down shirt)when she lived in New York City a few years back and she made a very good amount of money just in tips. My point is you can always use your body as a way to make money in other careers that aren't as extreme if you don't feel completely comfortable stripping. But other than that, stripping is not uncommon for girls who want to pay their way through university.

  • If you are ok with it then why shouldn't you take the job?

  • I became a certified pharmacy tech during college to support myself and I made enough. On the other hand, my roommate got a job at hooters and she made a LOT from tips. Just some other options.

  • Careful, because some jobs (like your career your going to college for) will actually deny your application (depending upon sector) if you have been previously employed as certain identified occupations. It obviously has to be a bonified reason, however...... its a thing.... one example is the RCMP in Canada - you couldnt have worked as a stripper in the past nor obvious illegal occupations etc...

    • Ya, to be an RCMP officer, even your immediate family is scrutinized. They are so anal.

      • It's true, I looked at the lie detector test and they ask a lot of detailed questions - beastiality, incest, drug use right down to the time and date, alcohol use, drinking and driving, your family - its crazy
