It's normal to be worried, but just because he has in the past with other girlfriends, doesn't mean he will with you. Like me fir example, I cheated on my last boyfriend because I was ver unhappy for the longest time with him. But, I am with someone different now, and I could never cheat on him. I love him too much. So that saying you said doesn't always apply. It only applies to people who always cheating their partners.
