Is it normal to be unmotivated at work sometimes?

I love my job and feel fortunate I have a job but some times I feel so unmotivated and spaced out. I’ve just come back from long leave and don’t feel refreshed. Is it normal to feel this way sometimes? Other times I’m really motivated and hard working.

A few years ago, Gallup conducted a survey into how much satisfaction people got from their work. They found that 13% of people say they are “engaged” in their work – they find it meaningful and look forward to it. Some 63% say they are “not engaged”, which is defined as “sleepwalking through their workday”. And 24% are “actively disengaged”: they hate everything about their job.

Since you say you love your job, I guess you're doing much better than most people.

My experience is that it's unusual for people to be constantly enthused and energetic. All kinds of stuff at work and outside it can affect that.

I've had naps at work when I've felt down. I've watched movies, played games, all kinds of slacking off...

You can't be at the top of your game every time. Sometimes you got to do the right thing and delegate... That's why interns are hired anyway XD

Don't you just hate that? I feel like I could've wrote this myself. It bothers me that there's this expectation too; that one should always be %100 motivated at all times and always be able to put in so much effort. It's just not going to happen.

You can't be on your A-game every single day.

It's normal but if it becomes the norm it's time for a change within the company or with another company. Your job seems routine and dull and you have lost interest.
