Is it normal to be unable to touch wooden spoons when they're wet?

Ever since I was a kid I couldn't stand the feeling of wooden spoons when they were wet and I could never dry them with a towel. I cannot describe the feeling - 10X worse than nails on a chalkboard. Does anyone else have a problem drying wet wooden spoons with a towel? Is this normal?

    Me too. I really don't like it. And I hate having lollipop sticks in my mouth. I used to play clarinet and that was just awful too. I thought everyone was like this, but I guess not.
