  • Why would I complain? I think you guys are taking this way too seriously. "Trans" in this case simply means going out in public dressed (passably) as the opposite gender. That's all there is to it. That is the definition the word has been given.

    • That's not being transgender, that's crossdressing.

      • I didn't say transgender, but I fit the qualifications of that too.

        • trans·gen·der
          transˈjendər,tranzˈjendər/Submit
          adjective
denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex.

Wearing clothes of the opposite sex doesn't make you transgender, quit making up your own definition. Being transgender is a result of feeling incompleteness or disagreement with your sex. It's almost like a calling. Not something you do because you're bored and have no hobbies. As for being transvestite, correct. Add "vestite" next time, as trans almost always stands for transgender.

          • Yep, as I said I fit that definition as well, I'm just not to the point of being socially able to act on it yet.

Think of it this way, Let's say you have depression but you also have a family to take care of, so you focus all your attention to them. You are staying alive for their benefit, but you still hate yourself and want to die. In your spare time you cut yourself. Are you saying that person doesn't really have depression, because they haven't killed themselves yet?

            • You didn't say this the first time, which caused this confusion. Your edited post makes much more sense now. Before, the lack of details seemed you called yourself trans(gender) just from wanting to cross-dress. Got it, lil BITCH?

              • Hahaha, you remember me. I tried to keep the post as short as possible because no one around here reads otherwise, I thought the "I fit the definition outside of this" was enough but I guess not, damn.

        • Being trans isn't a costume you put on, it's who you are.

          • Uhh, being a tranvestite isn't a costume either.

            • Transvestite: a person, typically a man, who derives pleasure from dressing in clothes primarily associated with the opposite sex.

Crossdresser: someone who dresses in clothing typically worn by members of the opposite sex.

Transgender: denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex.

So yeah, it kinda is a costume. Find a better label.

    • Being trans is straight up thinking of yourself as the opposite gender and doing everything the opposite gender does. People who identify as transgender or transsexual are people who are born with typical male or female anatomies but feel as though they've been born into the wrong body. What you're doing is called nothing but cross-dressing.

      • Wrong. I do think of myself as the opposite gender, but to actually "identify" or "transition" to something I was not lucky enough to be born as, just sounds way too arrogant for my comfort.
