I think its normal - I am 5'7 and I was 170 through puberty and I was super athletic - now Im 145, I struggled........ it was ALL diet btw. It is interesting to note that there is not much variation (calories per day) when considering exercise into play. Whether I worked out intensly for 5 days/week or was completely sedentary, calories for weight loss only varied by a few hundred - even mainenance (with exercise=2000 cals/day, without=2200 cals per day) - which can mean the difference between a cup of rice or not.
