Is it normal to be the musical black sheep?

  • Luckily, I come from a very musical family. While we all prefer different genres we can usually agree on what's good and what's not, so I can't tell whether you liking different music from your family is all that odd or not. I can definitely vouch for your taste in music, though. SSPU, Billy Corgan, and Trent Reznor are, in my opinion, some of the most brilliant musicians ever. (Especially the album Ghosts, I haven't met one person that has something bad to say about ghosts)

On the other hand, I was recently in a car with someone who would constantly listen to this K-Love type stuff constantly. I didn't want to say anything for fear of being rude, but it made me want to wring someone's neck it was just so annoying. I had to hold back the remarks about how I wish they'd learn more than 3 chords, or how the last 4 songs sounded almost exactly the same, or about how bad music supposedly inspired by Jesus could turn out so terrible... Except for Gospel. Gospel friggin' rules.

    /Opinionated rant

Sorry about all that... Anyway. Don't let your family discourage you from listening to great music. As for a suggestion; get headphones, it's win-win.
