I live in the country. My neighbor across the way has probably fifty or sixty bee hives. The bees come over and drink water out of the bowl by chickens drink from. I put leaves and things in there because the bees will drown if they fall in. It gives them a way to get out. I try to keep it filled to the rim so they won't fall in.
I can go out there and add water to the bowl or dump it out and clean it, and the bees buzz around, but they don't sting. And, really, if you aren't allergic it's no big deal if the do sting. It hurts less than a paper wasp sting. I have plenty of those, too.
Bees are really pretty mellow.
IIN To be terrified of bees?
