Is it normal to be suspended over a fur suit?

  • Freedom of expression really has to do with your dealings with the **government**. For example, you can't be put to jail for saying you think your government sucks, as can happen in other countries.

Schools and other organizations are free to impose their own rules, as long as they don't violate other laws (for example, exclusion on race/gender).

As another commenter said, you're likely not telling the full story of how the incident went about. You likely were a brat about it, to get a whole week suspension. And yes, a fur suit would be a major distraction to the teaching process, which is the purpose of the school.

The peace signs in protest of a major war is nothing to compared to a fury wanting some "freedom of expression." Suck it up, and wear your suit elsewhere.
