I still have a freedom of expression. there was a court case in the seventies about the same thing. kids were wearing peace wrist bands to oppose the vietnam war and they were suspended too. they took it to court and the judge ruled in their favor. I don't see why this would be different.

They should've let you off with a warning first and offered a change of clothes at least.
On a side note, being in school territory means that rights you'd normally have are automatically restricted.
I've always been told that once you're inside, certain rights/laws no longer apply to you - so heads up on that.
