You sound exactly like me to the T, except I'm still in high school. But what's weird is that I plan to study engineering at a top college too; maybe it's something in the wiring of our mathematical brains. I have problems forming relationships too, and sometimes I wish I could just not even compare myself to others or see their flaws. A while back, I posted a question similar to this one and got some pretty negative feedback, but that's just because I worded it in kind of a cocky way, just so you know. Anyhow, society tells us that it's not okay to think so highly of ourselves, and the majority of people believe it. If you wanted to tell someone you knew about this mode of thinking and still have them be your friend, they would have to be either really understanding or think like this too. If you told someone who thinks like the majority of the world, they would probably think you were really screwed up. I think this mode of thinking is normal, but I'm not sure it's healthy. Also, I don't necessarily agree with the whole prejudice thing. Someone looks down on those who don't aim as high career-wise or care about their appearance, and those are decisions people make, not something they're born or stuck with; it's not like apathy or indifference is a disease. I think it's ok to judge people based on what they can control.
However, I could just be trying to rationalize my own fears of being too conceited by writing this.
Is it normal to be superficial?

I totally understand.
