Is it normal to be so utterly uninterested in school?

I got into highschool as a straight-A honor student. I love learning new stuff. I used to enjoy school but now it's so utterly boring and I can't find any motivation to study or even interact with people more than I need to...

Your probably bored because you're thinking where am I gonna use this crap in real life. I agree. 80% of what you learn in school is totally useless in real life.

School is just the beginning. Now it's an endurance and consistency test for society. Keep up your grades, but maybe take up your own study - if only motivated to relieve the boredom. That way you can take your love of learning in a productive direction.

  • Is the material too easy for you? Perhaps you should be taking advanced college prep courses, you might need the challenge.

Yeah they are. But in my country there are no such things. You gotta complete 4 years of highschool in 4 years... You can't even jump to a higher class. Luckily I graduate this year

      • If you plan to go to college you should look at a challenging course of study like engineering or medicine.

Once you grasp the fundamentals of I.T you will get bored with it. It's too easy. Challenge yourself with something worthwhile. Something not so repetitive and concrete.

          • So go for a degree in electrical engineering. Those graduates are in demand.

At my school, they called it senioritis. It's a growing feeling that your school work is becoming ever more futile. At least 70% of seniors at my school had it. The only way I know of getting rid of it is to power through until graduation.

I hated school and was bored with it. Went to a Catholic school many years ago when they had a lot of nuns. Most nuns were so mean back then. Sometimes you would have a really nice one. But so many of them were mean and I never understood that because they're suppose to be more like Christ. We were taught he was so full of love and compassion. How come the nuns weren't that way? I thought a real Christian was suppose to act more like Christ. If your teacher is interesting enough then I'm sure you would like school. The "right teacher" can make all the difference. I had a special nun in English class who made every day so interesting. She was nice and never boring. Sadly, many nuns and teachers do not treat their students right. Sometimes they try to make them feel bad about themselves instead of helping them and encouraging them. Teachers like this should be fired. If they're not going to be a good role model to their students then they should never have been a teacher. No wonder so many kids don't like school. Of course, there's the other side too. Many students cause trouble and are violent toward teachers. These kids need a good hard kick in the ass and should be expelled instantly. And don't get me started on bullies. They are cowards who were raised by parents who don't give a crap. Bullies should be kicked right out. There should be a law that says you cannot attend school unless you respect everyone.

It's a cliché, but life is what you make it.

If you're finding school boring because it's not challenging, then do what you need to do in order to jump through the hoops, but devote most of your time and energy to things you find interesting. If you're an academic sort of person, find a field that interests you and explore it in depth. If you're a sporty person, focus on that. If you're a creative person, go create.

Teens who blame school or their parents for their boredom are really just saying that they're not yet mature enough to understand that what they do with their life is really their responsibility.

your state might have 1000 high schools and the top ten from each school will be headed to the top university and filling to capacity have a go at making straight As with that bunch when grades are issued on a bell curve system your 93 percent average genetics class will land you B grade at best. i have a feeling you wouldn't last a semester,
