Is it normal to be so happy with a friend of the same sex?

I'm happy when she randomly messages me on the phone
I'm happy when she comes and talk to me and shares her problems in school
I'm happy when she lends a shoulder for me to sleep on
I'm happy when she remembers the little things I tell her about myself
I'm happy she's always there to help me when I need her
But what's weird I don' think romantically about her, I just really really love her as my friend.
Seriously, I'm always thinking of ways for her to be more girly (she's a tomboy btw) and always hoping for her to get a great boy friend. IIN?? I'm so confused >,<

    Why wouldn't that be normal? I have a couple friends I adore who are of the same sex. They are some of the most important people in my life and I couldn't imagine being without them.

    It's normal only as long as it doesn't border on obsessive or possessive.

    i used to feel like that, too, but it would always end terribly. they would up doing something i found dissapointing, and then even after i forgave them it was never really like that again... like i could kind of see them more clearly, and i wasn't blinded by adoration. definetely not romantic though, and not really possessive either...
