Is it normal to be snubbed because of my job?

I had recently met someone and we were getting along really well. We were talking when he asked me what I did for a living. He said he was a lecturer in a well known university. Then I told him that I worked as a florist. I explained that even though it wasn't an important job it was a job I loved. He went a little quiet after that, then we said goodbye and hung up. Since then I haven't heard from him and I feel like crap. Its obvious why he hasn't been in touch because everything was ok before the job thing came up. I love my job but it isn't my identity. I know that he's shallow and up his own arse but I feel humiliated even though I did nothing wrong.

Is It Normal?

  • You should show up at all his lectures looking psychotic and holding ridiculous looking bouquets of flowers. Sit in the front row and make sure he sees you.

  • I wouldn't worry about it. So what if some educator thinks that being a florist is beneath him. Better to learn that now.

  • Sounds like a lecturer. And they are dickheads

don't waste your time on him

however maybe he found someone else? and it's nothing to do with your profession.

  • What a jerk :/ Being a florist sounds pretty neat, in my opinion. I never once considered it being at the bottom of the barrel when it came to jobs.

  • Sounds like he was turned off by your explaining "that even though it wasn't an important job it was a job I loved." That statements makes me think you feel your job is inferior to his. You are implying he doesn't like his job and is only has it be important.

  • He sounds like a cunt -

I would possibly organize a revenge bashing / kneecapping : LSD overdose torture for him.

I would sincerely consider these options due to his behavior

  • You don't need a liberal or so-called progressive elitist anyway. He would be a real snore. He would be for abortions, homo unions, and other liberal stuff. Say good riddance.
