Is it normal to be scared to go out and socialise?.....

I am 18 years old and have had trouble socialising for a few years i finished college this year and had quite a few friends but if they asked me to come out i would panick and make up an excuse.Im always nervous around more than three people and always leave the room or sit quietly in the corner, i always feel like people like me because they feel they should or have to put up with me. Ive slowly pushed all my friends away by not making the effort to go out or contact them, the people i know are into going out clubbing, drinking, sex etc normal teenage things but im just not into that. I spend most of my time alone or at work is this normal behaviour?

I feel the same way. I'm fine with socializing in small groups, but when I go to a club or something I get scared and try to stay away from the crowd. I'm not sure why I'm like that, I just usually stay away from large groups.

I'm like that too. It's not normal, but that doesn't mean you should change. If you like yourself, don't try to change to fit in with the norm.

You are on the autistic spectrum by the sound of things and it's totally normal for us autistic ppl to feel this way. Check out Asperger's syndrome, you may be surprised and it will help you understand yourself and even change things for the better.

    good luck!

Yes this is tottaly Normal!!! This used to happen to me. (I didn't even leave the house >_>) Clubs arn't my thing though. Always with the noise! what you should do is relax and find a small site with people who share your interests and be yourself. being yourself with people who will express their real feelings is true therpy! They also won't troll you only large sites have that. just a day being yourself and you can go out with friends to a park and swing or something! (way more fun than it sounds. until the little kid said he counted to a hundred and you have to get off now. *sob*)

You might have Asperger's Syndrome. There's no point in doing online tests for it, go ask your doctor for advice. It's either Aspergers or you're painfully shy. It depends what your body language is like.

Do your fears stop you from doing things that make you happy? If so get help. I'm not saying drugs nessicarly but therapy does wonders. Even just learning how to breath can make life more fun.

just be youself, you cant go wrong. i never got into clubbing til i was 19 befor that i found clubs threatening much like you do, but it is not normal to be sitting at home most of the time at 18, you will not see this time again so make the most of it

If you don't mind me asking what do you do when your alone...? Do you masturbate? Read? Sit there? Watch tv? Watch films? its perfectly normal to be antisocial to an extent and it can be tackled, i fear large numbers of people i dont know, and especially clubbing drinking and sex are not high on my to-do list either, it all just depends on what you do whilst your at home... do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend (you sound feminine to me so it'd be a boyfriend) for instance? and if you do go out how often would you say you do? :)
    Frank...:)
