      It's a plant. And they normal have stems. Instead it's fluffy and brown, and the fact that it's an abnormal feature in plants and they way it looks makes me shudder.

    Think of it like this. That fluffy brown part is like a cluster of flowers and leaves while the stalk it's attached to is the stem.

    I swear I've heard this before. When they said it, I was like "What? Cattails?" But I wonder if this is a thing.

      It's a plant with brown fluff on it. You can find them in lakes, ponds, and marshy areas. Scary AF.
