Is it normal to be requir to wear heels, skirts and bare legs at work?

Is having to wear a skirt and heels with bare legs acceptable and legal for a company dress code? It’s a consulting job and being quite self conscious this is not something to look forward to…

  • I don't care for wearing skirts or high heels so much. I also prefer to wear hose when I wear skirts. Is there anyone you can ask why you can't wear hose? I'd be tempted to just stop shaving my legs, but unfortunately I've had some laser on my lower legs.

  • Are you thinking its a sexual thing getting you to dress that way?

  • Not normal. Very sexist.

  • There are dress codes for work but never heard of heels being included usually flat shoes

  • Too specific. Sounds like the boss wants to do you.

  • That's... Oddly specific. No, not normal.

  • It's probably not illegal. I mean ... stripper is a job aswell and they have even worse dress codes. Still it feels wrong. Sorry you're in that situation. Do you really need the job, or could you maybe find something better?

  • It's kinda normal but I don't think it's right. I often wear a skirt and heels but not often with bare legs and either way it's up to me. Sure you can't pitch up in PJs for some jobs but...

There's actually a lot of legal stuff on this. But it's damned hard to think of staring a job by fighting them over their rules.
