Actually being overly protective can also have undesired affects. (Sorry to put a negative on this, even though all are saying how wonderful it is)
What happens when something happens and you're not there?
What happens when friends and GF do need to protect themselves and ONLY look for you?
I feel you should ONLY jump in when absolutely needed. And note this is usually NEVER.
Your friends need to look after themselves, and only then will you find that they are 'protected'.
The biggest concern here, is when parents become overly protective of their children (ie where you're headed one day!)
The children will NEVER learn how to live and support themselves, plus they won't really have that much 'living life to the fullest' fun.
Next time, stand back and trust your friends are people too, they may just surprise you and protect YOU one day.
Is it normal to be protective?
