Is it normal to be physically and emotionally unable to masturbate?

I am a 19 year old female, and I literally cannot masturbate. I am not religious, so it has nothing to do with that, but it seems like everybody is able to do it except me.

Even if I am super aroused, as soon as I even think about doing it, I "dry up" and it is painful even if I start while aroused. On top of the pain/sudden un-arousal, I burst into uncontrollable crying fits and get really nauseous.

Is that normal?

It could be internal feelings of inadequacy. Because masturbation is a normal thing, you are inclined to do it. But once you actually start, you may be bombarded by feelings of sexual worthlessness, a sentiment so strong, you may believe you aren't even worth the pleasure of masturbation. Hence the crying and nausea.

    You should love yourself.

  • Apparently, it's normal for some women to have difficulties masturbating to climax; but, the crying and nausea is not at all normal. What are you so upset about?

      • Then therapy from a licenced psychologist is probably good for you.
